Server-side tracking means your store's events (page views, add to cart, purchases) are also sent from a server to Meta, Google, TikTok and other platforms, instead of only from the shopper's browser. Shopify's help center notes that a browser ad blocker can stop the Meta pixel; a server-side copy of the event, matched to the browser one, is meant to fill that gap.
On Shopify you can get some of this for free, and pay a tool for the rest. Prices below are each vendor's listed prices on October 25, 2026.
What Shopify already sends
Shopify's Facebook & Instagram app has three data sharing levels. According to Shopify's help center:
- Standard uses the Meta pixel only, which a browser ad blocker can stop.
- Enhanced adds Meta's Conversions API: the purchase event is sent between Shopify's and Meta's servers, and customer details (name, location, email, phone) are shared with Meta.
- Maximum does the same and, in Shopify's words, is "updated with Facebook's latest advertising technology".
The pixel tracks PageView, ViewContent, Search, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, AddPaymentInfo and Purchase. The setting is under Sales channels > Facebook & Instagram > Settings > Data sharing settings.
If Meta is your main ad platform, check this setting first, and update your privacy policy to match: Enhanced and Maximum share customer details with Meta. A paid tool is worth comparing when you need server-side events for more platforms, or one data layer feeding GA4, ad platforms and email tools together.
What we saw on 245 stores
On October 25, 2026 we loaded the home page of 245 Shopify stores (and a product page on 211 of them), recorded the tracking requests each page sent, and didn't click anything or send any events. The sample isn't random: 96 stores came from Meta's Ad Library and 149 are well-known DTC brands. Two results matter here:
- Browser-side Meta events were visible on only 51 of the 245 stores. The rest may send Meta events server-side only, wait for cookie consent, or not use Meta. A scan from outside can't see server-to-server traffic, so it can't tell you how complete a store's server-side data is.
- Stores running Elevar weren't cleaner in the browser. Of the 55 Elevar stores with visible browser events, 27% sent the same page view or product view twice to the same pixel or measurement ID, and 6 of 44 with a product page (14%) were missing a product view event on at least one platform. Stores with none of the tracking tools we looked for were at 32% and 16%.
Spot checks of the duplicates found a tag firing twice and two separate GA4 installs on the same page, which a server-side tool doesn't change. The attribution software overview has the full method and limits.

Elevar is now part of Audiense (its pricing page is titled "Audiense Online (Elevar)"); getelevar.com redirects to Audiense's site, and the Shopify App Store listing still says Elevar (4.8 from 170 reviews on October 25, 2026). It builds the data layer for Google Tag Manager and Shopify's Web Pixel and sends events server-side to destinations such as Meta, Google Ads, GA4, TikTok, Klaviyo and affiliate networks.

Orders above the limit are charged per order, from $0.75 each on Base down to $0.04 on Elite, and extra destinations are $125.00 a month each on Advanced and above. Littledata
From $159.00/mo

Littledata's plans are Flex (from $0.35 per order, no monthly minimum), Scale (from $159.00 a month with 1,500 orders included, then from $0.15 per order) and Plus (from $792.00 a month with 10,000 orders, managed onboarding and multi-store billing). Analyzify
Analyzify
From $109.00/mo
Server-side tracking for GA4, Meta and TikTok with prebuilt Google Tag Manager containers, priced by order volume.
Analyzify Standard is listed at $109.00 a month billed yearly ($1,305.00 a year) or $145.00 billed monthly, for up to 5,000 orders a month; Plus starts at $206.00 a month billed yearly. Professional implementation is included with yearly plans and a one-time $295.00 on monthly plans. It ships its own pixel for 10+ platforms alongside prebuilt Google Tag Manager containers, and offers managed server-side GTM hosted on Stape as a $1,490.00 add-on, with Stape hosting itself paid separately.
Stape
Stape
Free plan, paid from $17.00/mo
Hosting for server-side Google Tag Manager containers, priced by requests, with a Shopify app for server-side tagging.
Stape's core product is server-side Google Tag Manager hosting, priced by requests; its pricing page also lists a Shopify app for implementing server-side tagging. The free plan covers 10,000 requests a month; Pro is $17.00 a month billed yearly for 500,000 requests, Business $83.00 for 5 million and Enterprise $167.00 for 20 million (each billed yearly, with a higher monthly price shown crossed out). Pro is the lowest-priced paid plan in this list. Our view: it suits a store where you or your developer already know GTM, since the tracking setup in GTM is yours to build.

Both also work outside Shopify: AnyTrack with other ecommerce platforms and funnel builders, wetracked.io with WooCommerce and several checkout apps.
How to choose
Our take, based on what each vendor offers:
- Meta is your main channel: turn on Enhanced or Maximum data sharing in Shopify's Facebook & Instagram app before paying for anything.
- A small store that wants server-side events for several platforms: Elevar's free plan works until you pass 100 orders a month; after that, wetracked.io Starter ($49.00 for up to 500 orders) and Littledata Flex ($0.35 per order) are the lower-priced paid options.
- A growing store that wants one clean data layer for GA4, ads and email: compare Elevar Core, Littledata Scale and Analyzify Standard, which land between $109.00 and $225.00 a month at the entry tier.
- You already run Google Tag Manager well: Stape has the lowest listed paid price among the tools here.
- You also want attribution reports: server-side tools mainly improve the data sent to ad platforms, and their reporting is lighter than the attribution platforms in Triple Whale alternatives and Northbeam alternatives.
Whichever you pick, fix duplicate browser tags first. Load one page with GA4 DebugView or Meta's Test Events open and count the page view events. Two browser events with different IDs are a duplicate; a browser event and a server event sharing one event ID are the expected pair.
Common questions
Does Shopify already do server-side tracking for Meta?
Partly, if you choose it. In the Facebook & Instagram app's data sharing settings, the Enhanced and Maximum levels add Meta's Conversions API, and Shopify's help center names the purchase event as the one sent between Shopify's and Meta's servers. The Standard level uses the browser pixel only. Meta Events Manager shows which other events arrive server-side.
How much does Elevar cost?
Elevar's free Base plan covers 100 orders a month and two destinations. Core is $225.00 a month for 2,000 orders, Advanced $650.00 for 10,000 and Premium $1,250.00 for 30,000, with per-order charges above the limit. Elite starts at $3,000.00 a month.
What's the cheapest server-side tracking option for a small Shopify store?
Elevar's Base plan is free up to 100 orders a month, and Stape's hosting is free up to 10,000 requests. Among paid options, wetracked.io Starter is $49.00 a month for up to 500 orders, and Littledata Flex is $0.35 per order with no monthly minimum. AnyTrack's free plan is reports only; its Conversion API starts on Starter.
TrackBee vs wetracked.io: how do they compare?
They price differently. TrackBee charges by tracked revenue, in euros excluding VAT: Start is EUR 79.00 a month with EUR 25,000.00 of tracked revenue included, and there's a 30-day free trial. wetracked.io charges by orders: Starter is $49.00 a month for up to 500 orders. TrackBee lists 19 integrations, including Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, Microsoft Ads, GA4 and Klaviyo. wetracked.io sends events to Meta, TikTok, X, Pinterest, Snapchat and Google Ads, and also works with WooCommerce.
Does server-side tracking fix duplicate events?
Not on its own evidence. In our scan of 245 Shopify stores, stores running Elevar had duplicate page-level browser events at 27%, against 32% for stores running none of the tools we looked for. The scan only sees browser requests. Spot checks found a tag firing twice and two separate GA4 installs; both have to be fixed where the tags are installed.
