These are seven tools Shopify stores compare with Klaviyo. They differ in how they charge, whether they include SMS, and how many ecommerce features come with the cheaper plans.

About our links: we earn a commission if you buy Omnisend or MailerLite through this page. The other tools don't pay us. We haven't tested these tools ourselves, so this guide compares what vendors publish.

Prices come from each vendor's pricing page and Shopify App Store listing on November 3 to 5, 2026, in USD.

What Klaviyo costs, for comparison

Klaviyo's email plan was $60.00 a month at 2,500 active profiles and $150.00 at 10,000, with ten sends per profile a month. The free plan covers 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month. SMS is a separate add-on, from $15.00 a month on its Shopify App Store listing.

Klaviyo's help center counts any profile that can be emailed, regardless of consent status. That includes customers who left an email at checkout without opting in. Plans move up at the end of a billing cycle and don't move down on their own.

If the bill is your reason for leaving, try this first: suppress the profiles you no longer email, then move your plan down yourself.

Price comparison

Price per month at each list size, billed monthly unless noted:

Tool and plan2,500 contacts10,000 contacts
Klaviyo email$60.00$150.00
Omnisend Standard$44.00$132.00
Omnisend Pro$59.00$150.00
MailerLite Comfort$33.00$89.00
MailerLite Power$49.00$129.00
Mailchimp Standard$60.00$135.00
ActiveCampaign Starter, billed yearly$39.00$149.00

ActiveCampaign's monthly billing costs more. At 1,000 contacts its Shopify App Store listing shows $19.00 a month, against $180.00 a year ($15.00 a month).

Two tools charge by emails sent:

  • Brevo Standard: $49.00 for 15,000 emails a month and $139.00 for 100,000.
  • Shopify Messaging: the first 10,000 emails a month are free, then $1.00 per 1,000. At Klaviyo's limit of ten sends per contact, we work that out to $15.00 for 2,500 contacts and $90.00 for 10,000.

Drip starts at $39.00 a month for up to 2,500 people. We couldn't read its price for larger lists, so use its calculator.

These plans don't all include the same features or sending limits. The sections below cover the main gaps.

The alternatives

Omnisend

Free plan, paid from $16.00/mo

Email, SMS and web push for online stores, with 24/7 support on every plan and a free migration from Klaviyo. Pays us a commission.

Our pick for most stores leaving Klaviyo, since it sells to the same kind of store and offers to move your setup for free. It says it moves lists, segments, flows and templates in up to five days.

The gaps are real, though:

  • Standard allows 12 sends per contact a month, and its plan comparison marks SMS for Pro only.
  • Product recommendations and personalized send times come with Pro, or as add-ons on Standard from $5.00 a month each.
  • Pro lists unlimited email under a fair-use policy, and at 10,000 contacts it costs the same as Klaviyo's email plan.
  • It also bills non-subscribers who received automated messages, so check who counts on your list.

It's 4.7 stars from 3,199 reviews on the Shopify App Store. Our Omnisend vs Klaviyo guide compares the two in detail.

MailerLite

Free plan, paid from $12.00/mo

The lowest list-based price in our table. Its pricing page lists Shopify integration and ecommerce triggers. Pays us a commission.

Comfort allows ten sends per subscriber a month and up to 50 active automations, with email support. Power adds unlimited emails and automations, plus live chat. The free plan covers 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month.

Its marketing plans don't list SMS campaigns. We didn't find a Shopify App Store listing for the current product. An older listing, MailerLite Classic, has 3.1 stars from 31 reviews.

Shopify Messaging

Free plan available

Formerly Shopify Email. Runs inside your Shopify admin, with email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns.

You pay for messages sent, with no list-based fee or monthly commitment. It covers templates, segments and automations for email and SMS. SMS is charged separately and only available in some countries. It's 4.8 stars from 4,800 reviews on the Shopify App Store. It only works with a Shopify store, so you'd change tools if you moved platforms.

Mailchimp

Free plan, paid from $20.00/mo

Standard allows up to 200 automation flows and 12 sends per contact a month. Its Shopify listing covers abandoned cart and back-in-stock emails.

Mailchimp isn't an obvious way to save money. Standard matched Klaviyo at 2,500 contacts and was $15.00 less at 10,000. It listed 15% off the first 12 months at 10,000 contacts or more.

Essentials starts at $13.00 a month but limits flows to four steps, and the free plan has no automation flows. Mailchimp also says overage charges apply if you go over your contact or send limit. SMS is an add-on. It's 4.8 stars from 1,561 reviews on the Shopify App Store.

Brevo

Free plan, paid from $18.00/mo

Charges by emails sent, not list size, which can help a store with a large list that sends rarely.

Marketing automation starts on Standard, not Starter. Its plan builder includes 500,000 contacts from 20,000 emails a month, where Standard is $69.00. A 10,000-contact store sending two campaigns a month would use all 20,000, so any automated email pushes it up to the next tier, at $79.00 for 30,000.

Brevo lists AI recommendations, back-in-stock alerts and coupons on Professional, not Standard, so ecommerce stores should check that plan too. The free plan allows 300 emails a day, and SMS credits are sold separately. Brevo lists a Shopify integration on its site, but we didn't find a Shopify App Store rating for it.

ActiveCampaign

From $19.00/mo

Marketing automation with contact records and an optional sales pipeline add-on. Its listing includes abandoned cart and order status triggers on Starter.

The card price is for 1,000 contacts, billed monthly. Its listing says Starter allows ten sends per contact and includes multi-step automation. It also shows SMS under Starter, but the pricing page and help center say the SMS add-on needs Plus or above. There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial. It's 4.5 stars from 256 reviews on the Shopify App Store.

Drip

From $39.00/mo

Ecommerce email with unlimited sends listed at its starting tier, up to 2,500 people.

That tier includes up to 50 workflows, chat and email support, and pop-ups. Its pricing page lists free migration and onboarding, while its Shopify App Store listing says these come "on some plans", so confirm before you rely on them. The listing also says the price rises with active people and email volume. There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial. It's 4.5 stars from 56 reviews, far fewer than the others here.

SMS, if you need it

SMS changes the comparison, because the cheapest email plans here often don't include it:

  • Klaviyo: a separate add-on, from $15.00 a month for up to 1,250 credits.
  • Omnisend: marked for Pro only, so at least $59.00 a month plus messages.
  • Shopify Messaging: charged separately by use, in select countries.
  • Mailchimp and Brevo: an add-on or separately sold credits.
  • ActiveCampaign: an add-on for Plus and above.
  • MailerLite: its marketing plans don't list SMS campaigns.

Check the rate for the countries you sell in. Omnisend and Shopify both say SMS pricing or availability varies by country.

Which one to pick

Our take, based on what each vendor publishes:

  • Leaving Klaviyo and want the migration handled: Omnisend, keeping in mind that it pays us. Check whether Standard or Pro covers what you use today.
  • Email only, at the lowest list-based price: MailerLite Comfort, keeping in mind that it pays us.
  • A small store with few sends: Shopify Messaging, since you may stay inside the free 10,000 emails.
  • A large list and few campaigns: Brevo, once you've worked out your monthly sends, including automated emails.
  • You also need a sales pipeline: ActiveCampaign, with its Pipelines add-on on Plus or above. Our ActiveCampaign vs Klaviyo guide goes through the differences.
  • You send a lot to a small list: Drip or MailerLite Power, which both list unlimited sends.
  • Stay on Klaviyo if you rely on its segmentation, reviews or helpdesk. Suppress the profiles you no longer email and move your plan down before comparing.

Before you move, price your exact list on each vendor's page and export your flows, segments and templates.

Common questions

What is the cheapest Klaviyo alternative for a Shopify store?

It depends on how much you send. Shopify Messaging includes 10,000 emails a month, then charges $1.00 per 1,000, so a store sending little may pay nothing. Of the list-based plans in our table, MailerLite Comfort was the lowest, at $33.00 a month for 2,500 subscribers and $89.00 for 10,000. MailerLite pays us a commission.

Which Klaviyo alternative is most similar for ecommerce?

Our pick is Omnisend, which pays us a commission, as MailerLite does. Omnisend sells email, SMS and web push to online stores and offers a free migration from Klaviyo. Standard leaves out some features Klaviyo's email plan lists, such as product recommendations and send-time optimization, and its plan comparison marks SMS for Pro only.

Is Mailchimp cheaper than Klaviyo?

Not at small list sizes. Mailchimp Standard was $60.00 a month at 2,500 contacts, the same as Klaviyo's email plan. At 10,000 contacts it was $135.00 against $150.00, and Mailchimp also listed 15% off the first 12 months at that size.

Can I lower my Klaviyo bill without switching?

Possibly. Klaviyo bills every profile that can be emailed, including customers who left an email at checkout without opting in, and suppressed profiles don't count. Plans don't move down on their own, so suppress the profiles you no longer email and then change the plan yourself.
